2026 Baseball Tryout Registration

2026 Olentangy Cubs Baseball

The Olentangy Cubs is a competitive travel organization designed to serve and develop athletes within one of the region’s most respected and successful Little League communities. Built on the belief that athletes thrive with both high-level competition and a strong community foundation, our program blends travel baseball with the tradition, opportunity, and leadership of Little League—developing complete players on and off the field.

Our development-first model grows with the player—meeting athletes where they are and preparing them for what’s next.

7U-12U: Dual-Path Development

At these core ages, Cubs players experience the full value of competing at a high level while staying rooted in their community. Our dual-path model provides players with structured development, advanced coaching, and meaningful game experience—through both travel tournaments and Little League play.

  • Travel + Rec: Players participate on Cubs travel teams and their local Little League team during the same season.
  • Advanced Training: Practices feature position-specific instruction, game strategy, mental preparation, and competitive reps.
  • Aligned Coaching Philosophy: Our travel and rec coaches work from shared development plans to create consistency across teams and levels.
  • Top-Tier Facilities: Access to many of the area’s best outdoor fields and professional indoor spaces—including high school and private training partnerships—provides year-round growth opportunities.
  • Team Chemistry & Character: Players benefit from strong teammate relationships across both teams—building confidence, leadership, and resilience.
  • All-Star Eligible: Continued participation in Little League keeps players eligible for postseason All-Star teams and tournament play.

This structure allows athletes to develop faster and more completely while still enjoying the friendships, leadership roles, and excitement of their hometown league. It’s not a compromise—it’s a competitive edge.

Eligibility Note:
Players in 7U–12U must either:
or
  • Obtain a waiver if no sanctioned Little League program is offered in your area. Use the Little League League Finder to check your eligibility.

13U–15U: High School Prep & Full-Field Play

As players age out of Little League, they transition into a travel-only model focused on preparing them for high school and beyond.

  • Full-field gameplay and advanced competition
  • Physical and mental development aligned with high school expectations
  • Year-round training opportunities through local high school partnerships and indoor facilities
  • Tournaments and showcases against strong regional programs

  • A development-first philosophy that prioritizes long-term growth

Coaches

  • Where appropriate, we will name coaches prior to tryouts.  In certain circumstances, we may have to wait to see where players fall in the tryout process before naming a coach.
  • New Cubs coaches are vetted through a referral and interview process.  Returning coaches are evaluated based upon parental feedback, board review, and developmental progress of their players.
  • Most Cubs coaches are parents of players.

Acceptance Process

  • All parents/players will have 24 hours to verbally accept an offer and 48 hours to make their first payment.
  • If payment is not made by that time, the roster spot will be given to another player.  There will be no exceptions to this.  If there are deliberations with other teams, you will want to make arrangements to have offers completed by that same time.
